Break the Cycle

You don’t want to let people in
You’re not sure how to let go
Instead of a smile you push them away
And the cycle goes on for yet one more day
Then you give in to your brain and its games
Forgetting the cycle don’t stop with you
Oh no
You’re just one domino

If you put me down, make me feel low
It’s the charge I will have when the count’s down to go
It’s what I will give and the next one receives
‘Till the cycle is broken by one who believes
In unconditional love
Though it’s hard to conceive of such love,
We must

I will break the cycle
I’ll undo the chains
I will turn my whole world
Around again

We hire lawyers, rely on judges
We all misjudge and carry grudges
Though I don’t want to, I still blame you
And I know you blame me too
But this cycle of blame goes on without shame
Like a merry-go-round or a monopoly game
Yah blame
Our race’s claim to fame

I should have done, but I didn’t
I believe, I regret, I have faith, forget
It gets dark, I recall then let myself fall
I’ve done it again, spread myself too thin
It just goes on and on

I will break the cycle
I’ll undo the chains
I will turn my whole world
Around again

I won’t live not trusting
In fear of what might be
I refuse to go on living
Like I don’t see
