Unspoken

a long time ago in a land far away
on a day much like today
they were walking down the street when they came face to face
it was their fate on that day they’d meet

they shared a tangerine on their first date
then a garden filled with fruit trees
and they lived in some imaginary state
across a hundred thousand seas

some things are better left unspoken
better left unsaid
some stories better left unwritten
letters left unread

they laughed like children and danced like fools
two gloriously conflicted souls
they would talk for hours about raising the sparks
then gravitate towards the dark

their love was forbidden, it broke all the laws
though its force was beyond them
they could not unravel its mystery its cause
still they resisted until the end

some things are better left unspoken
better left unsaid
some feelings better left unopened
to keep a sane head

when they were apart he’d leave the light on
she’d come hang by the door
for at the end of the day it was to him she’d be drawn
like the seabirds to the seashore

you can still hear her howl in the whistle of the wind
because she could not be with him
in some other realm they’d long ago run away
but in this one they’d been bound to stay

some things are better left unspoken
better left unsaid
some chains are better left unbroken
just to keep the thread

some things are better left unspoken
better left unsaid
some feelings better left unopened
to keep a sane head

some things are better left unspoken
better left unsaid
some stories better left unwritten
